A Daily Choice

“..choose you this day whom ye will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Josh. 24:15)

Every day we get up, we have many choices to make like “What will I wear?” or “What will I eat?” But we also have another choice…will we serve the LORD?

FIRST—we must choose to serve the SAVIOUR.

Joshua said, “we will serve the LORD.” Without realizing it, we can actually become a slave to other things in life. Some are a slave to money. Others are a slave to their calendar, feeling they must do everything that comes their way. Sometimes it can be hard to know what to choose, but Joshua said, “The choice is easy. My house will serve the LORD and no one else.”

SECOND—we must choose to serve Him SINCERELY.

In (v.14), Joshua said, “Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth…” In other words, we must serve Him from our heart, sincerely, not just with our lips. Anyone can “say” they are serving the LORD, but He wants us to serve Him “in sincerity and truth.”

THIRD—We must choose to serve Him SOLELY.

Next, in (v.14) he said, “and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.” God won’t share the spotlight with anyone! We cannot serve many gods. We are to put away all other things in our life which competes for our worship and service. God wants us to worship and serve Him solely.

So today, and every day, we have a choice to make. Will we serve the gods of this world, or serve the one, true, LORD!
