(Rev 1:5b-6) “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6) And hath made us kings and priests”
These two verses give us three wonderful things Christ has done for us:
1) HE LOVED US – “Unto him that loved us”
How do we know He loved us? Because He told us so! Of course anyone can SAY they love you, but Christ PROVED it. He SHOWED it when died for our sins.
2) HE LOOSED US – “and washed us from our sins”
When you wash dirty clothes you are loosening the dirt from the garment in order to make it clean. Thank God when we came to Christ in repentance, He LOOSENED the stain that sin had brought when He “washed us from our sins.”
3) HE LIFTED US – “hath made us kings and priests.”
When He saved us, He didn’t LEAVE us where we were, He LIFTED us to where he wanted us to be. We were beggars, but now are kings! We will one day reign with Him in His kingdom.
But he also has made us priests. Under the Old Testament covenant, only priests had direct access to God. But 1 Peter 2:9 says we are a “royal priesthood.” We now have direct access to the LORD in prayer!
Not only has He lifted us already, but one day He will come again and LIFT us out of this old world! Praise the LORD! So look at what He did and thank Him today
