4 Ways To Get A New Pastor – (Part 2)

“And [pray] for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,” (Eph. 6:19)

Yesterday, I gave you the first two ways to get a new pastor: #1-Pray For Him and #2-Attend Church Faithfully. Here are the other two ways.

#3—BE READY TO RECEIVE THE WORD

Imagine what your pastor must think when he spent hours preparing his message and, while he is preaching, he sees a man checking his watch, or a lady filing her fingernails or a teenager checking their cell phone.

If you want to reenergize your pastor, let him see you hungry to hear from God! Let him see that you are there to receive something from God and are eager to hear what God has to say.

#4—ENCOURAGE HIM

While showing up for church IS an encouragement to your pastor, there are even more tangible ways to show your love and appreciation for him.

Pastor Appreciation Sunday. Our church does a wonderful job showing their appreciation each year for me, our Youth pastor, and even our wives. It is sad that many churches do not have a day they set aside to honor their pastor. If you do not do this, you are missing a great opportunity to encourage him.

Encouraging Texts or Cards. I have church members send me texts from time to time thanking me for a particular message that spoke to them, or to just let me know they are praying for me. Trust me, the average pastor hears a lot more criticism than encouragement. So, whether you send a text or a hand-written card, it will be a big blessing to your pastor.

Send him and his wife on a trip. Our church sent my wife and me to the Holy Land. I cannot tell you what that did for me and how it renewed me, spiritually. Our church is also sending our Youth Pastor and his family on a cruise for his 5th Anniversary at our church.

Maybe you cannot do something that big, yet. Even just sending them away for a few days somewhere could really refresh them and when your pastor and his wife are refreshed, it benefits the church.

If you will do these four things, your pastor will be so excited he will preach himself half to death!

If you STILL don’t like your pastor, simply do these four things and some other church will probably call him away to be THEIR pastor.
