When God told Moses to lead the Children of Israel out of Egypt, Pharaoh kept trying to bargain with Moses. Like Satan, he wanted Moses to compromise his faith.
In (8:28) he said, “I will let you go…only ye shall not go very far away:” In other words, don’t go too far. That’s what Satan says to us. Go to church if you must; call yourself a Christian if you must, but don’t be fanatical about it. Don’t go too far with it!
Then, Pharaoh said if you must go worship God, at least leave all your possessions here. I love Moses’ response. He said, “Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind;” (10:26) I love it!
Friend, Satan knows he cannot steal away your SALVATION, so the next best thing he can try to do is steal away your DEDICATION. “Give God a little, if you must, but don’t give Him everything,” he says.
But as believers, God deserves it all! It’s a shame how we will easily give it everything we’ve got at work. Or we will give it all we’ve got for someone else, but God seems to get only half-hearted effort.
Eccl 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
One of these days this body will be placed in the grave and there will be no more opportunity to do anything for God. So, don’t listen to Satan. Today, as you serve the Lord, GIVE IT ALL YOU’VE GOT!
