God Washed Her Brain!

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Rom. 12:2)

There is a story of a missionary who was imprisoned by the Japanese. At the concentration camp where she was held as a prisoner, the penalty for having even a portion of the Bible was death. However, she was able to smuggle in a small Gospel of John in her winter coat. Every night she would pull the covers over her head, and with a small light, she would read a verse in John, then put herself to sleep memorizing that verse.

After some time, she had memorized the entire Book of John. When she would wash her hands, she would take one of the pages and dissolve it with soap and water, then flush it down the drain. “And that is the way,” she said, “that John and I parted company.”

Later, just before her release, a newspaper reporter was interviewing this missionary lady and heard her story of memorizing God’s Word. As the other prisoners were released, the reporters noticed they walked out of the camp shuffling their feet with their eyes to the ground, little more than lifeless robots. But this missionary came out of the camp as bright as a button. Someone was heard to ask, “I wonder if they managed to brainwash her?” The Reporter who had interviewed her replied, “No, because God washed her brain.”

As a Christian, you do not have to be conformed to this world. In fact, the Bible says you can be transformed “by the renewing of your mind.” Don’t let the world’s philosophy and false ideas control your mind. Get in God’s Word and let it cleanse you and renew you. Let God wash your brain!
