Thy Will Be Done

“Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:10)

There is a struggle in the life if every believer between wanting to do OUR will and wanting to do GOD’s will. Often, we get too impatient waiting on God’s will so we run ahead of God and try to accomplish our will, instead.

FIRST—God’s Will is a Matter of DISCERNMENT.

Before we can do God’s will, we must discern what God’s will is. Paul prayed that the Colossians “might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” The great things about it is that God doesn’t want it to be difficult for us to discern His will. That’s why the best place to find God’s will is in God’s Word! The more you are in God’s Word, the more you will see the mind of God and know what His will is.

SECOND—God’s Will is a Matter of COMMITMENT.

It is not enough to KNOW God’s will; we must be willing to DO God’s will. Jesus didn’t say, “Thy will be known.” He said, “Thy will be done.” There must be a commitment to obeying the will of God once God reveals it to you. Next, He said, Thy will be done in earth.” If God’s will is to be done on earth, it is up to us as believers to do it. We must be committed to helping God fulfill His will on this earth.

THIRD—God’s Will is a Matter of ENJOYMENT.

The psalmist said in (Ps. 16:11) “..in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” There is nothing more enjoyable than knowing God’s will and doing God’s will. It is enjoyable because there is joy in serving Jesus! Why? Because we realize we get to be a part of God’s plan for this world. What an honor! What a privilege!

Surrender yourself to obeying God’s will and living for Him every day. It’s the greatest life there is!
