“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” (1Peter 5:7)
I admit it. I am guilty as charged. Sometimes I can be a bonafide, full-fledged, card-carrying worrier!
How about you?
I don’t want to be. I don’t try to be. And I know it is wrong. Yet, in spite of all of that…I still find myself tempted to worry when circumstances come into my life that I have no control over.
Because I do not readily see how it will all work out, I can allow Satan to build up a stronghold of fear and doubt in my mind. And before I know it, my circumstances have become bigger than my God!
Does that sound familiar? Can you relate to that?
I recently heard someone describe worry as “emotional atheism!” Wow! How convicting is that? That may sound strong, but it really puts worry into perspective, doesn’t it?
Charles Spurgeon said, “If God cares for you, why need you care too? Can you trust Him for your soul, and not for your body? He has never refused to bear your burdens. He has never fainted under their weight. Come, then, soul! Have done with fretful care, and leave all thy concerns in the hand of a gracious God.”
Has a spirit of worry and doubt consumed you? Are you burdened down with the weight of worry? Are you struggling to give your cares to God?
He has, in no uncertain terms, invited you to cast “all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”
