“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Chron. 7:14)
This week we will celebrate an important day in the life of our country: Independence Day! Every year we set aside July 4 as a day to celebrate the freedom we have as a nation.
There are so many good things about America that we should thank God for; so many liberties we have, most of which no other country on earth enjoys.
But for all the good that is in America, there is also much evil and wickedness. All it takes is a quick look at the rapid moral and spiritual decline to know that, more than anything, America needs revival!
But, according to the Bible, revival only comes through prayer. Therefore, for the next few days, I want to give you some specific ways in which you can pray for our nation and our leaders. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…”
Today, I want to give you a specific prayer you can begin praying for our nation, using 2Chronicles 7:14.
“Father, I humble myself before You and seek Your face. I ask You to heal our land. I ask You to grant me a repentant spirit so I may be an instrument that ushers in Your blessing for this nation. Turn our hearts toward You and remind us that, as a nation, we have no hope apart from You and Your mercy. Forgive our sin and heal our land.”
