“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” (Ps. 34:18)
Have you been hurt by someone you love? Maybe it was a close friend or family member who betrayed you or broke your trust. Maybe you were hurt by a church member. No matter who it was, it can be a painful experience when someone you care about has stabbed you in the back and hurt you.
King David knew what it was like to be betrayed. He said, “..it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it…But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance” (Ps. 55:12-13).
When you have been hurt deeply, Satan wants you to isolate yourself and withdraw from everyone, including God. He will tell you that you have been hurt too deeply to go on any further. He will say that you will NEVER be happy again.
Well, when the devil comes around telling you that, you remind him that he is a liar and that the Bible says that in the presence of Jesus there “is fulness of JOY; at thy right hand there are PLEASURES for evermore” (Ps.16:11).
The best thing to do when you’ve been hurt deeply is to get as close to the Lord as possible. HE is the one who loves you and cares for you and has promised that He would never leave nor forsake you! Satan wants you to focus on your hurt and on the one who hurt you. By doing this, the hurt and pain stay fresh in your mind and it keeps you from moving forward.
So, if you have been hurt, the best way to get over the one who HURT you is by focusing on the one who can HEAL you!
