“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Rom. 8:29)
The Prodigal Son left home with his inheritance. He went off into a far country, presumably to get as far away from the father as possible. Eventually, his sin caught up with him and he realized he needed to repent and get right with his father.
What is interesting is that when the Prodigal Son repented of his sins and came home to his father, he didn’t say, “Father, give me” but “Father, make me” (Luke 15:19). Prayer isn’t just about getting things from God. Prayer is about letting God mold us and make us into the image of Jesus Christ.
