A House of Prayer

“And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called THE HOUSE OF PRAYER; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Matt 21:13)

God has really been dealing with me that our church hasn’t truly been a “house of prayer” like we could or should be. That is not our church’s fault; it is MY fault as the pastor.

We sing about prayer, teach about prayer, preach about prayer, read books about prayer, but when it comes to the average church’s Wednesday night “Prayer Meeting” time, we actually do very little praying!

**CONVICTING THOUGHT ALERT**  If a first-time visitor were asked to describe Community Baptist Church, how many words would they have to use before the words “praying church” came up? OUCH! What about YOUR church? What about your HOME?

Being a “house of prayer” means to have an atmosphere of prayer. Does your church have an atmosphere of prayer, or an atmosphere of criticism and complaining? Does your home have an atmosphere of prayer?

I don’t know about you, but if I am going to be all God wants me to be in these last days, I need to grow deeper in prayer. I want my home and my church to truly become a “house of prayer.”
