A Millionarie Unaware

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Rom. 11:33)

There is a famous oil field in Texas called the “Yates Pool.” During the depression, this field was owned by a sheep farmer named Yates. Mr. Yates struggled to make enough money with his ranch to even make the interest payment on his mortgage.

It wasn’t until a seismographic crew from an oil company came and asked Mr. Yates if they could check for oil, that they discovered a vast oil reserve under his land. At 1,115 feet they struck oil, giving 80,000 barrels a day and Mr. Yates owned it all! He had been living in poverty for years never realizing the millions of dollars that was literally under his feet.

That is the way some Christians are living, today. They are living in spiritual poverty, barely making it, all because they don’t realize how rich they are in Christ. God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6).

God’s people are being destroyed, today, because of our lack of wisdom and knowledge of God. Paul said, “If you only realized ‘the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God’ you would not be living in spiritual poverty.”

Don’t continue walking in spiritual ignorance. Get into God’s Word and grow so that you will not become a millionaire unaware.
