A New Beginning

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

Every January, we have the opportunity to look back and reflect over the past year. What made us happy? What did we enjoy? What did we regret?

Well, the Bible has a lot to say about beginnings. Genesis 1:1 reminds us that “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” But in the Book of John, we see another beginning. John says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Since we know that the “Word” is Jesus, John is telling us that Jesus was at the beginning. What a thought, that before there was anything, there was Jesus!

There is a lesson for us in this truth. The lesson is that no matter what you are wanting to do, make sure Jesus is a part of it from the beginning. If you want it to be a success, make sure to start with Jesus. Start with the Word! Sadly, few people start with Jesus, then they wonder what went wrong. If what you are doing doesn’t start with Jesus, it is doomed to fail!

Many marriages have failed because they didn’t start their marriage with Jesus. Many homes have become divided because they were not built upon Jesus.

Start this year off with Jesus. Determine to put Him first place in your life. Make Him the foundation of your life, your marriage, and your home. If you will do that, you can have a brand new beginning!
