“For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day. (Ex. 32:29)
Moses had been up on the mountain getting the Ten Commandments from God, when all of the sudden God told him to get back down the mountain. In (v. 7) God said to him, “thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves.” Wow! What a sad commentary.
You see, Satan cannot corrupt us. He can only tempt us to corrupt ourselves. If you are living away from God, with sin in your life, it is not because Satan is making you; it is because you are choosing to live that way.
What was Moses’ solution? He said to them, “Consecrate yourselves.” In other words, clean yourself up and make things right with God. How about you? Have you consecrated yourself to God or is there still some pet sin you are keeping in your life?
I read a very convicting quote yesterday. Manley Beasley was a great man of prayer and one day his son came to him and said, “Dad, I sure wish I had the kind of faith you have.” His dad said, “Son, you can have all of God you are willing to pay the price for!”
Let me ask you, how much of God do you have in your life? How much do others see Jesus at work in your life. Do you want God’s power? Do you want God to do extraordinary things in your life? Then the main question is, are you willing to pay the price?
