“His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” (John 2:5)
What great advice Mary, the mother of Jesus, gave to those at the marriage in Cana. She said, “Whatever Jesus says to do, do it!” I can’t think of any better advice to give anyone. In fact, that is basically what Christianity is in a nutshell…doing whatever Jesus tells us to do.
FIRST—Obedience to Christ Proves You “KNOW” Him.
Jesus said in (John 10:27) “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” Only those who truly “know” Jesus can hear His voice. The word “hear” is more than just hearing with your ear, it is acting upon what you heard. Disobedience comes when we HEAR what Jesus says, yet we choose not to DO what Jesus says.
SECOND—Obedience to Christ Proves You “LOVE” Him.
Jesus said in (John 14:15) “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” You cannot convince me that a person who has no desire to obey what the Bible teaches really loves Jesus. If you love Jesus, you will love His Word. And if you love His Word, you will OBEY His Word.
Week after week, people go to church and sing, “Oh, how I love Jesus…” yet Monday through Saturday they are not even READING God’s Word, much less OBEYING God’s Word. Does that person really love Jesus? According to Jesus, they don’t.
Do you want to prove that you really know and love Jesus? Get in His Word today. Read it, then “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”
