“But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea…” (Exodus 13:18)
The Bible says that of all the ways and places God could have led the Children of Israel, He specifically chose to lead them “through the way of the wilderness.” The wilderness was a rough path; it was a dry, barren way. Yet, God chose to lead them that way.
Prosperity preachers say that if you obey the Lord, you will be blessed with favor and abundance. But that is not always God’s way. Sometimes what we need is adversity, not prosperity.
Because we know the whole story, we understand why it was better for them to be led that way. God was actually protecting them and preparing them. We see God’s wisdom, today. But they did not understand God’s logic at the time.
Maybe you are experiencing a wilderness experience in your life. You do not understand why God is leading you through a dry, barren time, spiritually. Just stay faithful. You may not see what God is doing right now, but He is working! He is protecting you and preparing you. Just keep trusting in Him and know that His ways are always best.
