How to Have Peace in Perilous Times – (Part 2)

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Tim. 3:1, 13)

We are living in troubling times. The Bible says that in the last days “perilous” (or dangerous) times would come. The Bible tells us how to have peace no matter how difficult our circumstances may become.

Yesterday, we saw that, FIRST—Peace comes from PRAYING right. (Phil. 4:6-7)

SECOND—Peace comes from THINKING right.

(Isaiah 26:3) says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” As one preacher put it, “Much of our lack of peace comes from stinkin’ thinkin’.” The Bible gives the formula for what we should be thinking about.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil. 4:8)

If we were honest, we would realize that much of the time we allow our minds to dwell on things which take away our peace.

So basically, if you want to have peace in your life, start thinking about what you’re thinking about! In other words, assess what thoughts you allow to occupy your mind. The Bible says that the person whose mind is stayed (or fixed) on God is the person who will have peace in their soul. The circumstances of life cannot sway them because their mind is on the God OF the circumstances.

Tomorrow, we will look at the third, and final, way to have peace in perilous times.
