“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” (1Cor. 11:1)
When I was a kid, we used to play “Simon Says.” And, as you know, the goal of the game is to do exactly what Simon Says to do. The person who is leading the game will begin to speed up the commands in hopes of making you do something Simon did NOT say for you to do. Then, of course, you are out of the game.
Now, I never knew who this “Simon” guy really was, but I willingly played the game every time to see if I could win.
There are a lot of people who are leaders in this world. Some were such great leaders that those following them were willing to die for them. There are spiritual leaders who boldly lead their followers to follow Jesus Christ, such as the apostle Paul. But there are other leaders, however, who are wicked and ungodly leaders, leading their followers away from God.
Here’s my question, is the person you’re following, following Christ? Where is the leader you are following leading you…toward Jesus or away from Him? Are they leading you to follow God’s Word or disobey God’s Word?
Girls, if that boy you really like isn’t following Christ, stop chasing after him! If he isn’t following Christ in his own personal life, then he will not lead you to follow Christ either!
Before you follow someone, find out who THEY are following. Find out where they will be leading you before you start following them. If they are not already following Jesus Christ, themselves, find another leader.
