Look What’s Below You

“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…” (Deut. 33:27)

I remember as a child, one time my dad, my brother, and some friends went camping together. Our campsite was next to a lake and one day we went into the lake to play in the water. At the time, I wasn’t a good swimmer, so my dad held on to me and led me out into water that was over my head.

What my dad was doing was more than a swimming lesson, it was a lesson in trust. Though I was afraid of the deep waters, I knew my dad loved me and would not let anything happen to me, so I held on to him as tightly as I could.

Sometimes, our circumstances can make us feel we are in over our heads. God assured us in Isaiah 46:4, “And even to your old age…I will carry, and will deliver you.” Rest in His promise, this morning, that even though He may sometimes lead you into deep water, He is right there with you, upholding you.

Thank God we are always safe and secure, even in the worst of circumstances because underneath us are God’s “everlasting arms”!
