Lord, Teach Us to Pray!

In Luke 11:11, one of the disciples said to Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Not, teach us to preach, or teach us to win souls, or teach us to build big buildings, but “teach us to pray.”

If you had asked the disciples a year earlier if they knew how to pray they would have said, “Of course we do! We’ve grown up in strictly religious homes; we pray all the time.” But when they saw Jesus pray, and they saw the answers He got to His prayer, they realized they didn’t know how to REALLY pray after all.

See, to many prayer is like a spare tire…only needed in emergencies. But God intends prayer to be the foundation off ALL we do. That is why the Bible says, “Pray without ceasing.”

On Wednesday nights, the Lord is leading our church to grow deeper in prayer. Last night was wonderful. We had at least two adults praying over each of our teens in the altar, praying over whatever needs that particular teen has.

I truly believe the more we pray and call on God, we had better be ready because He will begin doing mighty things!. LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY!
