The Battle is the Lord’s

1 Samuel 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.

Picture this: young shepherd boy, David, has just seen Goliath curse and defy the God of Israel. Every Israelite soldier is shaking in his boots, too scared to face Goliath. Suddenly young David runs out of nowhere to face Goliath, himself.

Now…the Philistines, the Israelites, Goliath, and even Israel’s King Saul mistakenly think this is just a battle between the Philistine army and the Israelite army. They think that the winner is yet to be determined. But David sets the record straight. The winner has already been declared BEFORE the battle even begins!

While everyone is holding their breath to see what the outcome will be, little David runs toward Goliath and reminds everyone there that “the battle is the LORD’s.”

May I remind you this morning that although your faith may be under attack by Satan, the battle doesn’t belong to Satan. The battle is the LORD’S!!! You may feel you are all alone at your school or at your job. But the truth about the matter is, just as David didn’t face Goliath alone, you are not fighting this battle alone, either!

If Satan, or his associates, are attacking you and your faith, just remember “the battle is the LORD’s.”
