Waiting by the Door

(Mark 11:4) “And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.”

This little colt interests me because many times in life WE are like this little colt was.

1. THIS COLT WAS TIED UP. Many times it seems as if we’ve been “tied up” or limited by our circumstances in life. We feel as if we are going nowhere; we are not making any progress. It can be a difficult place to be!

2. THIS COLT WAS AT A CROSSROADS. He was “in a place where two ways met.” You will come to many crossroads in life where you will need to make a decision about which way to go. This little colt had not choice but to wait on Jesus!

He might have felt as if no one knew where he was…BUT JESUS DID! He knew exactly where he was! If you are at a crossroads today, do what this colt did… just wait on the Lord. “But I don’t know what to do,” you say. Then don’t DO anything, except be faithful in waiting upon further instructions.

3. THIS COLT WAS “TIED BY THE DOOR.” Jesus is the door! The best place you can be while you are waiting is “tied by the door.” Stay faithful in your prayer time, Bible reading, and church attendance. Eventually that door will open. You need to be there when it does.

4. FINALLY, THIS COLT WAS LOOSED. He was eventually loosed from what had him bound, BUT…. he was loosed in God’s time, not his!

In (v.3) Jesus said, “The Lord hath need of him.” Be encouraged! The Lord has need of you! He wants to use you, but He needs you to be patient and wait upon Him. In the meantime, God may want to use your attitude of patience to be a blessing to someone else who is also bound by something.

(Isa 40:31) “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Don’t give up! Don’t quit! Just stay with Jesus. Just keep waiting by the door!
