Watching Where You’re Walking

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Ps. 119:105)

Believers have a tremendous advantage over the unsaved. As believers, we know where we are going as we journey through life and we know how to get there. We have God to help us and the Bible to show us the way.

However, the ancient world did not have flashlights like we have today that can light up our pathway ahead of us. The people back then carried little clay dishes containing oil, and the light illuminated their path only one step ahead.

Likewise, we do not see the entire path God has for us at one time. We are walking by faith when we follow the Word of God. Each act of obedience shows us the next step, and eventually, we arrive at the appointed destination.

You might not want to admit it, but if you don’t know where you are going, you are lost. And that is the condition of every unsaved man and woman on earth. The Bible does not use the word “unsaved” to describe the condition of those without Christ; it uses the word “lost.”

Praise God, if you know Jesus as your personal Savior, you are no longer LOST! You have found the way! You are on the right path which leads to life everlasting!

Once we are on the right path, obedience to the Word keeps us walking in the light. And when we walk in the light we are cleansed from our sin. John said in (1John 1:7) “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Take the light of God’s Word with you, today, so you can be watching where you’re walking!
