Weighed In An Even Balance

“Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.” (Job 31:6)

In the Bible, a balance refers to a pair of scales used for weighing commodities or goods. It was a system of measurement. Often, dishonest businessmen would use a “false” balance in order to charge their customer a higher price without them knowing it. Therefore, the Bible condemns a false balance.

“A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.” (Prov. 11:1)

Job was an honest man, and to prove his integrity he said to God, “Let me be weighed in an even balance.” He wasn’t afraid for God to judge him. He said, “I am being falsely accused by man, so God, I want YOU to judge my heart because I know you judge righteously. You know my integrity”

We sometimes forget that God already knows everything about us. He does judge us rightly because things we may hide from others are clearly seen by Him!

If you are living in sin, it should frighten you to know that God sees everything. But if you are living right, it should comfort you to know He sees it all. Others may falsely accuse your motives, but God sees your heart. He knows your integrity.

Just keep on doing right, knowing you are being weighed in an even balance!
