Well, Look Who’s Here

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

It is easy to watch the news or see what is going on in the world around us and say, “What is this world coming to?” The first part of our verse reminds us that Satan (“The thief”) has come and his only mission in this world is “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Yes, Satan has come to this world, but I am glad he is not the ONLY one who has come!

I like how one preacher put it. He said, “The early Christians did not say in dismay, ‘Look what the world has come to’ but they said in delight ‘Look what has come to the world!’” Jesus said, “I am come!” Praise the Lord, things started looking up when Jesus came! Oh, dear child of God, lift up your head this morning because Jesus has come.

See, God doesn’t expect us to clean up this world. We do not have the power to clean it up. We cannot change a sinner’s heart, but we can point the sinner to the One who can change his heart…JESUS!

When you begin to feel discouraged with the events that are happening all around you, just remember that Jesus has come to this world and, best of all, HE’S COMING AGAIN! And He will one day take us to a “better” world; one without sin, sorrow, sickness, or Satan! Praise the Lord!
