Breaking Free from What Has You Bound

“And suddenly there was a great earthquake…and every one’s bands were loosed.” (Acts 16:26)

It is interesting that while Paul and Silas were praying and singing praises to God inside their prison cell at midnight, the Bible specifically says that “there was a great earthquake” and “every one’s bands were loosed.” Every cell door was opened and every shackle the prisoners were wearing was released!

Like prisoners in a prison cell, Satan also has people bound. Some are bound by lust and greed while others may be bound by bitterness, fear, or worry. When a prisoner is bound, it means they are not free to move around like they normally would. Those whom Satan has bound do not live in the freedom Jesus brings; they are restricted; they are bound by their sin.

It was God who brought the earthquake and it was God who loosened their bands, but what prompted God? What was it that got God’s attention? I believe it was when Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises by faith. There is something about prayer and praise that gets God’s attention!

Paul and Silas didn’t have the strength to undo their shackles and open their prison door, but God did! You do not have the strength within yourself to loosen the grip of what has you bound…but God does!

Bring your shackles to Him. Pray and praise Him in spite of what has you bound. Let Him free you, today! Let Him loosen the bands that have your bound so that you can begin walking in victory!
