God Doesn’t Need A Can Opener

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth…” (John 5:28-29)

Most people do not know that it wasn’t until 48 years after tin cans had been being produced that someone finally invented the can opener! Until then, the only way a person could open a can was with a hammer and chisel.

Finally, in 1858, Ezra Warnet invented the can opener, but it still did not become popular for another 10 years and then only because it was given away free with canned beef.

Today, when a person dies, they are sealed in a casket. Jesus told His disciples that one day “all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth…” This has already happened once before, after His resurrection. The Bible says, “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost…And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,” (Matt. 27:50,52).

But it is going to happen again at the Rapture!

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” (1Thess. 4:16)

Although the casket and tombs of the dead will be sealed tight, God will not need a can opener or special gadget. All He will have to do is say, “Children, come forth!” And just like that, the dead in Christ will rise!

Oh, what a moment! Are you ready for the Lord’s return?
