“Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.” (Judges 13:8)
When my children were born I remember thinking, “I wish children came with an instruction manual!” One of the most rewarding, yet most difficult, jobs in the world is raising children. If only there was a resource we could turn to that would give us the wisdom we need to raise our children right. Ah, but there is!
When God told Samson’s parents (Manoah and his wife) that they would have a child, Manoah’s response was, “O my Lord, let the man of God…come…and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.” Manoah knew what a lot of parents need to realize and that is you need God’s help and direction in order to raise your children right. What a great challenge to every parent!
There is no better place to learn how to raise children than in the house of God, hearing the Word of God from the man of God!
Mom and dad, can I challenge you to make sure you have your children in church every time the doors are open? Attending one service here and there will not be sufficient to overcome the constant temptation your child will face in the world on a daily basis. It is foolish to think you can adequately raise your children without God.
So, if you are not already faithfully attending church, get in a Bible-preaching church and take your children every service. Manoah knew that God’s man was sent by God to instruct them on how to raise Samson. You have no greater friend than your pastor and no greater child-training manual than the Bible.
