He Worketh the Work of the Lord

“Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.” (1 Cor. 16:10)

Paul said they were to RECEIVE Timothy and RESPECT Timothy as a man of God because “he worketh the work of the Lord.” Your pastor might not be the most talented or gifted but he should be loved and respected because “he worketh the work of the Lord.”

Timothy was young. He was certainly no Apostle Paul but that was not what was important. He was doing the same work as Paul and therefore he deserved the same respect. Paul said ‘Timothy is doing the same work “as I also do.”’ In other words, ‘The way you treat him (Timothy) is the way you are treating me.”

Be careful how you treat your pastor. If God has called a man and sent a man, then the way you treat HIM is the way you are treating GOD. Pray for your pastor. Love your pastor. Encourage your pastor. Your pastor has a huge target on his back. Satan is after him and would like to destroy his testimony and his effectiveness for Christ all because “he worketh the work of the Lord.”

PRACTICAL WAYS TO PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR:

  • Pray for God to protect his testimony.
  • Pray for God to protect his marriage
  • Pray for God to protect his family.
  • Pray for God to give him a fresh Word from God every time he preaches.
  • Pray for God to give him a fresh anointing every time he preaches.
  • Pray for God to give him wisdom and discernment as he leads the church.
