Mercy, Peace, and Love

“Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.” (Jude 1:2)

Jude gives us three special things that God wants to have present in the life of every believer: mercy, peace and love. In fact, not only does He want them present, He wants them to be multiplied. Let’s look at what each of these brings to our lives.

FIRST—MERCY Looks UPWARD.

Mercy looks upward to our relationship with God. Mercy and grace are flip sides of the same coin. MERCY is when God does not give us what we do deserve and GRACE is when God does give us what we do not deserve. God’s mercy is what should drive us to the Throne of God.

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb. 4:16)

Then, the more MERCY you receive from God, the more GRACE you ought to give to others!

SECOND—PEACE Looks INWARD.

The word “peace” means to join together; to join that which was separated. That’s what Jesus did on the cross—He made peace between us and the heavenly Father. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you don’t know real peace! Jude said, “May God’s peace be multiplied in you.” Peace begins at salvation, but God wants it to grow and be multiplied in your life.

THIRD—LOVE Looks OUTWARD.

Love looks outward to our relationships with others. If you have the love of Jesus in your heart, it won’t stay in, it will have to come out. In fact, Jesus said that love is one of the evidences by which the world will know we are His disciples.

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35)

Are these three things being multiplied in your life? If not, Ask Him to let His mercy, peace, and love shine through you into the life of someone else, today.
