Our Secret Weapon

“Lord, how long wilt thou look on? For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.” (Ps. 35:17, 20)

David was wondering how long God was going to allow his enemies to continue doing evil. How long would He allow them to “devise deceitful matters against him”? I feel that we are seeing this very thing happening, today. The wicked are doing their best to “devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.”

But, in the midst of it all, David had a secret weapon…PRAISE! David said in (v.18) “I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.”

I must confess, the election results got me down. Yesterday was not a good day for me, I am embarrassed to admit. But this morning I confessed to God my bad attitude and decided to do what David did when it seemed that the wicked were getting away with their wickedness…he began to thank God and praise Him!

Then, he ended his psalm by saying in (v.28) “..my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.” I cannot control what comes out of the election, but I can control what comes out of my mouth!

May the Lord help me speak of His righteousness and praise Him all day long!
