The Price Of Prayer – (Part 3)

Prayer is the most crucial element to the success of a believer. You cannot be a successful Christian without prayer. Edwin Harvey said, “A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power.”

So far we have seen that real prayer will cost you TIME and EFFORT. But there is one last price we must pay to really pray.

THIRD—Prayer Will Cost You TEARS

“He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Ps. 126:6)

First, we see the PRIORITY of this kind of praying. For there to be weeping, there must be a burdened heart behind those tears. When one begins to weep in their prayers, you know this need is not a little matter to them; it is a high priority.

Next, we see the PRODUCT of this kind of prayer. It says this person will be, “bearing precious seed.” This reminds us again of the effort required on our part. We must pay the price if we expect an answer. God cannot answer a prayer not prayed.

Finally, we see the PROMISE. It says that the person who weeps and bears precious seed “shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” What a promise! If you sow “weeping” you will reap “rejoicing”! You sow seeds and you reap sheaves!

In other words, God says you will reap MORE than you sow when you pray. What an encouragement that should be to us.

The next time Satan tries to discourage you from praying, just remember the reward of prayer is far greater than the price of prayer!
