When Happiness Leaves Your “Happy Place” (Part 2)

“Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.” (Deut. 33:29)

Yesterday we saw that Moses was giving Israel one last challenge. He was reminding them that, although they were about to possess the land God had promised them, their happiness wasn’t in a PLACE or a PERSON, but in the Lord. Here are three truths to remember that will help you stay “happy” in the Lord.

FIRST—You Were Specially Made By God.

Moses said to Israel, “O Israel: who is like unto thee…” Just as Israel was a one-of-a-kind nation made by God, you are a one-of-a-kind person made by God. People lose their happiness in life because they are trying to be like everyone else. Be who God made YOU to be.

SECOND—You Are Saved.

Next, Moses said, “O people saved by the LORD…” If for no other reason, you should be happy because you are saved! You have eternal life and a home in Heaven! What a reason to be happy.

THIRD—You Are Protected.

Moses said, the Lord is “the shield of thy help…” Rejoice in the fact that God is not only your Father, but also your protector. And not only your protector, but He is “the sword of thy excellency.” He can fight your battles for you. In fact, Moses tells them that God would take care of their enemies, as well. He said, “thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.”

If you are a child of God, remember that your happiness is not found in a PLACE or another PERSON; it is found in Jesus Christ, Who never fails!
