A Walking Advertisement

Years ago, in a church I attended, there was a blind man who had been a member there before I came. They said that even though he was blind he carried his Bible with him everywhere he went. Finally, out of sheer curiosity, someone asked him, “If you cannot see, then why do you carry your Bible around with you?” With a smile on his face, he replied, “Because it’s good advertisement. It lets people know whose side I’m on!”

Did you know that every day, everywhere you go, you are a walking advertisement? You are either an advertisement for the world, or for God. James said it this way…

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

By the way you live each day, would others say you look and act like a friend of the world, or do you look and act more like a friend of God? There is an unseen battle raging, and we must choose a side. Remaining neutral is not an option in this war.

As followers of Christ, it should be evident in our daily choices whose side we are on. Are you a walking advertisement for God at work? Do those you work with know, without any doubt, whose side you are on? Are you a walking advertisement for God at your school? What about around your closest friends?

You are an advertisement one way or another. By your life you either represent the Lord or your own fleshly desires. So, the question today is who are you a walking advertisement for?
