A Faithful Witness

(Rev 1:5) “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead…”

Who says the book of the Revelation isn’t for us today? Friend, you only get five verses into the first chapter and you come to one of the most encouraging verses in the whole Bible!

If you have nothing else for which to be thankful, you can get on your knees today and praise the LORD for being a “faithful witness!”

When you think about it the whole life of Jesus Christ, from the manger to the cross, is encompassed in these two words. All witnesses before Jesus were feeble, fallible humans, prone to sin. Some were better witnesses for the LORD than others, but ultimately none were completely sinless nor completely faithful.

Ah…but not Jesus! For He is “the faithful witness!” He was the first to demonstrate complete faithfulness to us when He was faithful to come and was born in human flesh. Then He was faithful to live a sinless life. Then he was faithful to die on the cross for our sin. THEN, He was faithful to rise from the dead. Notice the next part of this verse says He is “the first begotten of the dead.”

BUT WAIT….THERE”S MORE… Not only was he faithful in the manger, and on the cross, and in the tomb…. praise God He will be faithful when comes again!!!

I know things look bad right now. I know it seems evil has the upper hand, BUT JESUS IS FAITHFUL. Always has been; always will be! He’s coming again! But the question is, how faithful have YOU been to Him?
