God is Waiting on You

I don’t know about you, but I despise waiting rooms. First of all, because it means there must be something wrong. You are there for some procedure and you are waiting for them to call you back. Secondly, because….you have to WAIT. I mean, let’s face it…there is no chance you are NOT going to wait because they even called it a “waiting room.”

Sometimes God put us in His waiting room. We must wait for Him to answer a prayer or give clear direction to us. I have some preacher friends who are in a “holding pattern” in their lives, waiting for God to lead them. Been there, got the T-Shirt, and hope I never have to wear it again! I have other friends who are going through trials, wondering why their lives have seemingly been put on hold and they are having to wait.

But have you ever thought about the fact that sometimes it is GOD Who is the One waiting?

Isaiah 30:18 says, “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.”

The Bible says that sometimes it is God Who is waiting. “But why does God have to wait? Can’t He simply give me the answer right now,” you ask? The Bible says God is a wise husbandman who “waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it” (James 5:7). He cannot gather fruit until it is ripe. Only He knows when we are spiritually ready to receive the blessing in a way which will benefit us and glorify Him.

Andrew Murray said, “Waiting in the sunshine of His love is what will ripen the soul for His blessing. Waiting under the cloud of trial, that breaks in showers of blessing, is as necessary.”

Be sure that if it seems God is waiting longer than you wish He would, it is only to make the answer that much more precious. God waited hundreds of years, until the fullness of time, before He sent His Son to us. Notice, the reason He may be waiting is “that he may be gracious unto you, and…that he may have mercy upon you.” WOW! It’s not in vain. He has special grace and mercy just for those who are having to wait!

No wonder the last part of that verse says, “..blessed are all they that wait for him.”  The Lord promises a special blessing to those who are willing to “wait for Him.” Lam. 3:25 says, “The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”

Hold on. It may not be much longer. For now there is waiting, but you are not the only one waiting. God is waiting, too! Waiting to pour out His grace and mercy upon you. So, rest assured, the answer will come in God’s time. In the meantime, remember it will be worth it in the end because it is a blessed thing when a waiting soul and a waiting God meet each other!
