Going In His Power

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore…” (Matt. 28:18-19)

Before Jesus ascended back into Heaven, He gave His disciples clear directions about their mission. He reminded them that He has “All power…in heaven and earth.” Not only did HE have power, but He was sending THEM in that power, as well!

In other words, Jesus was saying to them, “Since I have all power, YOU will also have access to that power when you go in my name.” So Jesus said to them, “All power is given unto me…God ye therefore…”

There was a lot that He needed the disciples to accomplish. There was work to be done. There were souls to be saved. There were lives that needed to be changed…all through the power of Jesus.

Here’s the great thing…just as God called and empowered His disciples in that day, He has called and empowered you, today! As a child of God, He has given you access to the same power He gave to His disciples because there is still a great work that needs to be done.

There are still souls that need to be saved. There are still lives that need to be changed. There are still people who need hope that only Jesus can give. But here’s the key….you cannot accomplish this great task in your own power. That is why Jesus said in John 20:21, “..as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”

You are not in this thing alone. You have a Heavenly Father above you and His Holy Spirit within you to empower you to share the gospel of Jesus with everyone you meet. The question is will you complete the mission you’ve been given? Can Jesus count on you?
