He’ll Give You More

“And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.” – Mark 4:24

There is nothing more important in the life of a believer than hearing, learning, and applying the truths of God’s Word to our lives. Notice three things in this verse.

FIRST—There Must Be ATTENTION to the Truth.

Jesus said, “Take heed what ye hear.” First, we must “hear” the truth. It is our responsibility to put ourselves, and our family, in a church where the truth is being preached. So many choose a church based on the facilities, the music, the youth, or something else. First, and foremost, make sure you are in a church where you will hear the truth of God’s Word thundered from the pulpit every week.

SECOND—There Must Be SUBMISSION to the Truth.

Next, Jesus said, “Take heed…” See, hearing the truth of God’s Word preached every week will not do much for you if you are not going to “Take heed” to it. Before God will ever give you more truth, you must obey what He has already given you.

︎THIRD—There Will Be An ILLUMINATION of the Truth.

Lastly, Jesus said, “and unto you that hear shall more be given.” There is a promise here that when you obey what you already know, God will illuminate MORE truth to you. In other words, the reason many in our churches have not grown more in God’s Word than they already have is because they have not been obeying what God has already given them!

You will grow, spiritually, in proportion to how much you obey. That’s why Jesus said, “with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.” God wants to open up more truth to you. He wants to give you more than what you have right now, but it’s up to you.

Start obeying the truth God has already given to you, and then you find He will give you more!
