I Got Some Money!

“The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.” (Ps. 89:11)

One night, while on a trip, my wife and I stopped at a fast-food restaurant for a bite to eat. As I was waiting for my food to be prepared, I saw a mother come in with a little child. What really got my attention was the fact that this little boy had a handful of dollar bills in his hand and was waving them at everyone he saw.

When they got up to the counter to order their meal, the little boy waved the money at the cashier and said, “I got some money!” The cashier smiled and said, “Can I have some of that?” The boy turned and ran away saying, “No! It’s all mine!”

Obviously that money had been given to that little boy by his mother. Yet, he acted as if HE was the one who had worked and earned it all by himself.

It got me to thinking how often we say that about the things which God has given to us. The Bible says, “The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine:” In other words, God owns the heavens and the earth. Yet, we act as though WE own everything we have.

Listen, you and I do not have one thing that God hasn’t given to us. Every blessing we enjoy is from the good grace of a loving God.

The money in your wallet…His.

The health you enjoy…His.

The material possessions you are blessed with…all His!

James said that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…” (James 1:17). See, we are not the owners, we are simply the managers of all God has given to us.

Take some time this morning to thank Him for everything He has blessed you with and remember that it all belongs to Him.
