Mountain View Living

(Rev. 21:10) “He carried me away…to a great and high mountain.

Drones are amazing! You can fly a drone high into the air and see much further away than simply standing on the ground. John didn’t have a drone; he had something better—the Spirit! John was carried away by the Spirit “to a great and high mountain.” From this mountain view, he saw things he never saw at ground level.

Sadly, the average Christian never sees further than where they are right now. They never seem to see the BIG picture of what God wants to do in their lives. They are content with ground-level living, when God wants them to experience mountain view living!

If we are going to have mountain view living:

FIRST—We Must Be Willing To Leave Where We Are.

The only way John was able to see what he had never seen before was because the Spirit carried him away. He was willing to leave where he was so he could see what he had never seen.

The average Christian will never see beyond where they are because they are willing to LEAVE where they are for where God wants them to be.

SECOND—We Must Be Willing To Go Higher.

The Spirit didn’t take John from where he was to another place on the ground. No, he went “to a great and high mountain.” If we are going to experience mountain view living, we must leave where we are for higher ground. Someone said it this way, “If we want greater latitudes and longitudes we must have higher altitudes.”

God wanted to show John the New Jerusalem coming down, but he would never have seen that at ground level. Before, John had stood down by the seashore and saw a “beast rise up out of the sea” (13:1). The beast was a product of Satan, the New Jerusalem was a product of God. God doesn’t want us focusing on what Satan is doing; He wants us focused on what HE is doing! Maybe the reason we are seeing more beasts than New Jerusalems is because we are still living at the world’s sea-level.

God wants us to have the MOUNTAIN view, the LONG view, the WIDE view. He wants us to see the BIG picture of the world around us as it relates to God’s plan. Don’t keep your eyes down here, get a mountain view!

As long as you are content with low-level living, you will never experience what God has for you up on the mountain. Surrender yourself, today, and let God give you a glimpse of mountain view living!
