Part of the Family

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,” (Eph. 3:14-15)

From the very first Book in the Bible, God puts an emphasis on the family. When God created Adam in the Garden of Eden, He didn’t leave him alone; He gave him a wife and children. There is no denying the importance of family in God’s mind.

But, just as the family unit is important to God, there is another family that is important to Him…the church family. Sadly, many do not see the need or importance of having a good church family that they can be a part of.

This week, our church has rented a lodge in Gatlinburg, TN. We have done this for the past several years. We rent a resort and have FAMILY CAMP for a whole week together. Now, some churches would not like to spend a week together, but this has become one of the most anticipated events we do all year long!

We look forward each year to getting together and playing games, eating, having smores and marshmallow roasts, morning devotionals, evening services, trips in Gatlinburg, and a whole lot more!

One reason it has been so successful is that we genuinely enjoy being with each other. Paul goes on to say in (v.17) “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love…” There is nothing like a church family that is “rooted and grounded in love.”

If you are not a part of a loving church family, I want to encourage you to ask the Lord to lead you to one where you can attend, serve, and grow together. There’s nothing like being part of the family!
