The BIG Question!

In Psalm 11:3, the psalmist asks, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” That is the BIG question, isn’t it?

Really, when you think about it, the question is not, “What can the wicked do?” We know what THEY can do. They will continue to do MORE wickedness.

The question for us in this day is “What can the righteous do?” Things have not gone as we had hoped. But since God is sovereign and omnipotent, things are still under His control. So, what can we do as we see wickedness increase?

1. Keep on WORSHIPING.

In other words: Live by FAITH, not by FEAR. Verse 1 says, “In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?”

In other words, we should be doing what we should have been doing all along, trusting God. The psalmist said, “how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?” He said, “I’m not going to FLEE, I’m going to have FAITH that my God is still in control.”

Politicians get voted in and politicians get voted out, but God’s throne is not up for grabs! Verse 4 says, “The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven…” The best thing we can do is to continue worshiping Him because He is working all things together for OUR GOOD and for HIS GLORY.

2. Keep On WORKING.
The last part of verse 4 says that “his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.”  We should keep living lives that are clean because God sees our faithfulness and He rewards righteousness. Verse 7 says, “the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.” Not only do WE need to keep living right, THIS WORLD needs for us to keep living right!

3. Keep On WATCHING

Keep on watching because the LORD is COMING! Ps 24:9-10 says, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.”

The best OUTLOOK is an UPLOOK! There will never be world peace until the Prince of Peace is in charge. But, praise God, one day He WILL be in charge! So, “what can the righteous do?” Keep on worshiping; keep on working; and keep on watching. Our redemption draweth nigh!
