“And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine…” (Mark 5:13)
Here we see a case of demon-possession. The world mocks at such a thing, but we see it as all too real. I believe we still see it in our day. What could cause such a murderous spirit we see in our land, today? It is a regular occurrence to see people, even children, going on a shooting rampage. What else can put such a murderous spirit in a person but Satan, himself? The Bible says Satan “was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44).
In Mark 5 we see such a demon-possession taking place. This man lived among the tombs, crying and cutting himself. He was living with no hope and in despair. That, my friend, is how Satan treats his followers. Follow him, if you will, but he will leave you with a life that is hopeless and in despair.
This man was in bad shape, but then JESUS CAME!!! When Jesus shows up, the story takes a turn for the better. Oh, what a glad day when Jesus showed up in our life, too! Do you remember when He came into YOUR life?
The Bible says that when Jesus came, the demons had to leave. It specifically says that “the unclean spirits went out.” No soul is big enough to house both Satan and Jesus at the same time. Jesus will not be where Satan is allowed to rule, but Satan can no longer dwell where Christ is in charge.
Have you invited Jesus to be your Savior? Is He ruling and reigning in your life? If so, then Satan has no power over you. Dear brother, cheer up! Satan may be fighting you for all he’s worth, but he has no right nor claim over the child of God!
Take some time to thank the Lord for the day Jesus came and Satan had to leave. Thank the Lord that you are no longer living under the power of Satan, but now you have access to the peace and joy that Christ alone can give.
