There’s A Frog In My Bed!

“And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs: And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed…” (Ex. 8:2-3)

King Pharaoh was in a mess! The Children of Israel were in bondage to Pharaoh and were his servants, so God sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to let His people go, but Pharaoh was a stubborn old king who refused to heed God’s command.

As a result, God sent him a dire warning. He said that if Pharaoh did not obey, He would send frogs, that’s right, FROGS, to invade the land. Well, Pharaoh didn’t listen, so God kept His promise and sent thousands and thousands of frogs into Egypt. They were everywhere!
At bedtime, when Pharaoh pulled back the covers, he found frogs in his bed! He couldn’t sleep at all that night because all night long all he heard was, “Ribet! Ribet! Ribet!” I’m sure he was sick of hearing all those frogs croaking.

When he woke up the next morning, he may have thought it was all a horrible dream, until he went to eat breakfast and found frogs in his cereal bowl!

The worst part of this was that Pharaoh brought it on himself. Had he obeyed God to begin with, none of it would have happened.

Sometimes, we can be like Pharaoh. We stubbornly go our own way and disobey God’s Word. God warns us of the consequences, but we refuse to listen. We think we can someone disobey and get away with it, but then suddenly we find a frog in our bed!

Don’t run from God. Don’t make God send frogs into your life before you will repent.
