Who Is With You?

“But the LORD is with me…therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail:” (Jer. 20:11)

A 13-year-old boy and his brother were taken to a professional baseball game by their grandmother. On the way to the game, they stopped to pick up an elderly friend of their grandmother. They were not sure how exciting it would be, going to a ballgame with two elderly ladies.

But then something happened that changed everything.

The boys knew something was different when, instead of parking in the regular parking lot, they drove up to the curb of the stadium and a man in a uniform opened the car doors and greeted them. They were then given the royal treatment. The man ushered them past the long line of people to a special elevator which then led to a private box.

They could not believe how they were able to get such great seats at the ballgame. They had never watched a ballgame from their own private box before. It was later that the boys learned that their grandmother’s elderly friend was actually the mother of the General Manager for the ball team!

All of the special treatment they received was not because of who they were, but because of who was with them!

One of these days we will take our last breath. We will be ushered by angels past the sun, moon, and stars. We will soar right past the Milky Way and every other galaxy in our universe. We will be carried even further still by our angelic guides right into the presence of God! And it won’t be because of who WE are, but because of who is with us, JESUS!

He is our ticket into Heaven. It is not our might nor our ability that gets us there. It is not our good works that will gain our entrance into glory. No! It will all be because of JESUS!
