Forget The Fancy Words

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matt. 6:7)

Do you know someone who, when they are called on in church to pray, can pray the most beautiful prayers? It seems there are some who always seem to have the right words when it comes to public prayers. Then, there are others who are terrified to pray in public because they do not feel they say all the right words.

There have been times when I was in such a deep, dark, place that I wasn’t even sure HOW to pray. If you had been listening to my words, you would have probably not even heard a coherent thought coming out of my mouth because my heart was so broken.

If you are one of those people who feel you don’t pray beautifully worded prayers, then let me say this to you…forget the fancy words! You can’t impress God with fancy words, anyway.

Think about it. When your child, or grandchild, comes to you asking you for something, you aren’t critiquing the words they use. You are interested in THEM, not how eloquently they are communicating with you.

God loves YOU, not the fancy words you use when praying. Stop trying to impress God, or others, when you pray and simply talk to Him from your heart. It is your heart, not your fancy words, that gets God’s attention.
