God Wants Your Weakness

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2Corinthians 12:9)

Too often, we make the excuse that we aren’t strong enough to do what God has asked us to do. I have seen men, whom God was calling to preach, run from that call because they didn’t feel they could be a good enough speaker.

Maybe God has asked you to do something for Him and you are using the same excuse; you feel that you are not strong enough. If that is the excuse you are making, think about this… what if God is asking you to serve Him out of your WEAKNESS, not out of your STRENGTH?

See, God can use your strengths, to be sure, but more often than not, God seems to choose to use our weaknesses rather than our strengths.

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” (1Cor. 1:27)

When was the last time you realized that God has a plan for your weaknesses? That can be an uncomfortable thought, can’t it? We would rather build God’s kingdom through our gifts, not our gaffs. We’d prefer to serve our Savior from our savvy, not our shortcomings.

Yet, it is through our weaknesses that we are reminded how much we must depend upon Him. It is also while serving through our weaknesses that God’s grace is ever more real to us. God doesn’t want us bragging about our strengths. Rather, He wants us to yield to Him our weaknesses so that He will get the glory for what is accomplished in our lives.
