The Missing Piece

“From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth…” (Eph. 4:16)

My wife loves to put together jigsaw puzzles. She could sit there for hours, perfectly content, to meticulously assemble one piece after another until the whole picture comes together. But there is nothing more frustrating than to spend all of your time finding all the right pieces, only to get down to the end and be missing a key piece to the puzzle.

It doesn’t matter if the missing piece is in the middle or on the edge. Every piece is an important piece because it is part of the puzzle.

Paul said that every member of the body of Christ is important because we are “fitly joined together.” In other words, God made you and gifted you as you are so that you can contribute something to the body of Christ.

Just as every piece of a 1000 piece puzzle is important, so is every member of the body of Christ. Don’t sell yourself short. Jesus certainly hasn’t! He said you are special; you are important, and you are needed! Don’t be the missing piece.
