There’s Still Oil

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” (1Kings 17:9)

Yesterday, we saw that God had led Elijah to be sustained at the brook Cherith, only to have the brook dry up. It seemed like there was no hope. Ah, but with God there is ALWAYS hope!

What did God do? He sent Elijah to a widow living in Zaraphath. Even though there was a famine, and she only had enough oil to make her son and herself a small meal, she took care of God’s man first. As a result, God miraculously kept her supplied with oil until the famine ended!

What is the lesson for us? Even though the brook dried up, there was still oil to supply the need.

See, everyone at one time or another will experience their brook drying up. What you must remember is that when your brook dries up, there is still some oil! You may feel your resources have run out. You may feel there is no more water in your brook.

Just remember, God is not limited to your brook! He NEVER runs out of resources. You just keep on trusting God and when Satan tells you that your brook is dry and there’s no hope, just remind Him that God is a miracle working God and as long as there is a God, there’s still oil!
