Have You Been Where You’re Going?

New Years is always looked at as a time to renew ourselves and do better, especially spiritually. People often say, I need to get back to where I used to be with God.”

Maybe NOT. “What? We shouldn’t get back to where we were with God,” you say?

I submit to you that a better alternative is not for you to get back to where you USED to be with God, but rather to go to a place with God you’ve never been!

See, if we’re not going some place new with God, it may be a sign we are not growing. Eph. 4 says we are to “grow up into Him in all things.” 2 Pet. 3 says we are to “grow in grace,” Growth requires change. If you’re not changing, you’re not growing.

A year from now, I don’t want to be in the SAME place I was with God. I want to be in a DIFFERENT place spiritually. I want to take new ground, scale new heights, conquer new challenges for the kingdom of God!

God told Abraham, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:” (Gen. 12:1). God was saying, “I want you to leave the place you are and go to a place you’ve never been.”

Where you are might be a good place to be. You may be doing better than you ever have. Praise the Lord! Just don’t STAY where you are. Don’t be content. Don’t be satisfied with where you ARE. Determine to take new ground and keep walking with the Lord further than you ever have before.
